Josh Yorwerth was banned for four years from all football-related activity on Wednesday after dodging a drugs test.
The former Peterborough United defender was sacked by Posh last month and he is now be banned until 2022.
Anti-doping officials turned up to Yorwerth’s house last September, but he did not answer the door after taking cocaine the weekend before.
Fearing he could be banned for two years, the former Wales Under-21 international chose to avoid the testers completely.
However, the FA have now handed him a four-year and have also warned Yorwerth about his future conduct, and he will be â€Å“subject to target resting for the duration of his suspension.â€
The former Wales youth team captain exclusively told SunSport this month that addiction to drugs, drink and gambling has seen his life spiral into chaos.
Yorwerth exclaimed: â€Å“I’d go three days straight, hardly any sleep, no food at all, drinking and doing drugs.
â€Å“What am I going to do now? I haven’t got any training, I’ve never done anything else.â€
The midfielder has not featured for the Lilywhites since the memorable 1-0 win over Man City in the quarter-final first leg in N17 at the start of April due to a groin injury. With the 23-year-old missing the team's next game against Huddersfield Town, many expected him to be back in time for the second leg at the Etihad Stadium.
