Manchester United news: Paul Pogba not worried what critics Graeme Souness, Roy Keane and others say

Paul Pogba has dismissed criticism from pundits about his performances, saying ‘they are paid to say things in front of the camera.’

The Manchester United midfielder, who played in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, has often found himself the target of scrutiny since he returned to the club in 2016 for £89million.

Pogba, who has strongly been linked with a move to Real Madrid, was named in the PFA Team of the Year for this season to the surprise of many and has scored 16 goals this season.

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has been one of Pogba’s most frequent critics and advised the club to sell him and sign two £50m players in his Sunday Times column this weekend.

After Pogba issued an apology to supporters following the humiliating 4-0 defeat to Everton, former Man United captain Roy Keane gave a typically candid response, when he was on pundit duty for the Manchester derby last week.

“I wouldn’t believe a word he says,” Keane told Sky Sports. “There’s no meaning, no meaning behind it. I don’t even think he believed what he was saying there.

“He is a big problem, no doubt about it.

“You’ve got to run back when you’re defending. He said it got a bit heated after the game against Everton; I heard they were actually throwing their hair gel at each other.”

However, the World Cup winner has remained unconcerned despite the constant fault-finding he has to deal with.

Speaking to French outlet RMC Sport, Pogba said: “Criticism from British pundits? No worries. They are paid to say things in front of the camera.

“I’m just on the pitch. They can say what they want, they are paid for it. I’m not paid to talk. I get paid to be on the field and fight for my team. That’s all.”
