Lionel Messi and other LaLiga stars could be playing the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia for next six seasons

The Spanish Super Cup looks set to take place in Saudi Arabia for the next six seasons.

The Spanish FA are reportedly in negotiations with the government of Saudi Arabia over a possible deal to play the match, which is the Community Shield equivalent, abroad.

According to Marca, the proposal is worth €30million per season for the next six years.

Negotiations are still ongoing and nothing has been finalised.

The 2018 match was played at Morocco̢۪s Stade de Tanger and was played over just one leg rather than two.

Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-1 in the match in August.

Further changes could be made for next season̢۪s competition.

It has been proposed that the match be played in January 2020, rather than at the start of the season.
