Piers Morgan has hit out at those criticising Arsenal for allowing Aaron Ramsey to join Juventus in a free transfer, insisting the Gunners ‘won’t miss him as much as people think’.
Ramsey will end his 11-year stay with the north London club this summer, having agreed to join the Italian champions when his Arsenal contract expires.
The move has surprised many, especially given his prominent role in Unai Emery’s team, with the club facing criticism for letting another of their top players leave for nothing.
The 28-year-old has made 35 appearances for the Gunners this season, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.
But Morgan says the anti-Arsenal clamour surrounding Ramsey’s exit is ridiculous and insists they will not miss the midfielder next season.
“Aaron Ramsey reminds me of Olivier Giroud – they’re both very good footballers, but honestly we haven’t missed Giroud at all since he left and I don’t think we’re going to miss Ramsey anything like the way people keep going on about it,†he told Friday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“The truth is, Ramsey for the last few years has been a perfectly good player in the team, but under Emery he hasn’t started that many games.

“Recently he’s started playing well because he’s got his big deal and good luck to him. He’s been a good servant to the team.
“But Ramsey has been part of the least successful Arsenal team over a decade-long period that we’ve probably ever had.
“So let’s get things in perspective.
“We need world class players to come in. I think we’ve got some in the team.
“Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are beginning to show that they’re pretty formidable as a forward duo, Mesut Ozil is world class when he fancies it but doesn’t fancy it enough, and I think we’re seeing some of the other come through as well.

Morgan and Ramsey have history.
The Good Morning Britain presenter has been a vocal critic of the midfielder’s performances throughout his senior career at the Emirates Stadium, so much so that the Welshman refused to shake Morgan’s hand after a game back in 2015.
And, after Ramsey asked ‘who’s Piers Morgan?’ in an interview, Morgan began referring to the former Cardiff City man as ‘whatshisname’.
