Liverpool won both their Premier League meetings this season 2-1 with Roberto Firmino netting home and away.

Forward Roberto Firmino is named in Liverpool’s starting line-up after missing the last three matches with a thigh problem.

“We have worked hard, preparing for the final and at the same time, enjoying it because it’s a period we don’t get together very often.

“It’s so important in the way we prepare and apply the different work to different players at different levels.

“The players are so excited, so motivated but at the same time very calm and relaxed with the confidence we’re doing the right things to arrive in the best way.”

“So that’s what we expect, there’s no doubt about that.

“We know a lot about Tottenham, of course. We played against them, so we know it’s difficult, Tottenham know it’s difficult. Let’s play a difficult game and let’s win it.”

This is Jurgen Klopp’s third major European final with Liverpool – only Bob Paisley (four) has ever reached more with the club.

Klopp is the first manager to take an English club to a trio of European finals in his first three seasons of European competition.

Sadio Mane could become the first player to score in back-to-back European Cup finals since Franz Roth with Bayern Munich in 1975 and 1976.

Victory in Madrid would give Liverpool their sixth European Cup success, putting them outright third on the all-time winners list behind only AC Milan (seven) and Real Madrid (13).

This will be Tottenham’s fifth European final (Cup Winners’ Cup 1963, UEFA Cup 1972, 1974, 1984) but first in the Champions League.

This will be Tottenham’s first European final since the 1984 Uefa Cup. They are looking to become just the third English side to win all three major Uefa tournaments, including the old Cup Winners’ Cup.
