Liverpool players pay their respects at Anfield memorial 30 years on from Hillsborough disaster

Liverpool’s first team, women’s and academy squads came together to pay their respects 30 years on from the Hillsborough disaster.


Jurgen Klopp and captain Jordan Henderson laid a wreath at the Anfield memorial on Monday in tribute to the 96 fans that lost their lives in 1989.

The under-23s side and Liverpool Ladies also placed wreathes at the memorial and paid their respects.


Players and staff took the time to read the tributes that had been paid to the victims.





A minute silence was held before the Reds’ 2-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday and fans held up cards to form a mosaic in the Kop.


On the steps of St George’s Hall, 96 lanterns were lit to mark the 30th anniversary on from the disaster at the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.















Pictures of those who lost their lives were displayed with banners and flowers laid by family, local politicians and members of the public.
